Coffee with thinkers

I had coffee with Dave Ferguson from Community Christian Church (top 15 most influential pastors and top 20 fastest growing churches in US) and Joe Myers (author of two recent books) Thursday morning. It's quite interesting observing how guys like this think and ponder.

They are quite curious and sensitive to how fast things change. They are aware how little they know and how fast what they do know will become irrelevant. They are always looking for people to stretch their thinking spiritually and otherwise.

My hope is this H10 site can become a place where we can be continually challenged with the new insights God is revealing to our group. With such intense and diverse worlds we are each living in this could be a powerful place to hang out. Lets make it a priority to share our worlds here!!

This sounds great to me...

We are looking for timeless principles that do not change. Once we understand principles we will more effectively respond to our changing environment, right?

I've been reading in Proverbs and am struck by how many times Solomon repeats himself on the issue of learning from others/listening to others/receiving correction/seeking wisdom.

A second thought from Proverbs... the beginning of wisdom is to the fear of the Lord. This is also repeated...

Ed, you should write a book on clarity; I think there's a lot of it in you.

I love the idea of helping to hold fast principles to guide through the world as it changes, leaving us with clarity.

About the second thought from Proverbs...if the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, one way (if not the only one) to fear him is to walk in his ways (Ps128:1).
This means to walk in His ways is the beginning of wisdom, which would be searching out these lasting principles that you mentioned, Clint.
